When Ericsson embarked on the task of building a third generation communication system for wireless applications, the company opted to support WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) for the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS). The culmination of years of research, Ericsson's WCDMA system is built to last long into the future. The OSE RTOS has also been designed to expand according to the application's needs, and will support WCDMA as the number of users and applications increase.
