With the second largest thoroughbred population in the world behind the United States, Australia is the world leader in racehorse ownership on a per capita basis. The challenge was to develop a more accurate, user-friendly and time-efficient way for breeders of thoroughbred racehorses throughout Australia to report breeding activity to the Australian Stud Book, a joint venture operated by the Australian Jockey Club and the Victoria Racing Club. An integrated database solution designed by Fujitsu Australia has improved the speed and accuracy of a records management system that lies at the heart of Australia's $7 billion horse-racing industry.
