Central Kitsap School District wanted to install telephones in all of its classrooms and venues of learning. After carefully surveying the marketplace for available solutions, the district narrowed its search down to four vendors: Alcatel, Cisco, Mitel and 3Com. Only 3Com offered both IP telephony solutions and standards-based IEEE 802.3af PoE switches with a proven record of reliability and functionality. By turning to 3Com to merge VoIP and PoE, Central Kitsap achieved nearly ubiquitous voice and data services throughout the district easily and affordably.
