The Intel Communications Infrastructure Group has built a proof-of-concept Radio Network Controller (RNC) out of Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (ATCA) building blocks to help understand the challenges equipment manufacturers face in this market segment. This white paper will report the results of these efforts and make recommendations for the best use of Intel applications processors for the RNC control plane subsystems.
