Gaming applications in ubiquitous computing environments will be in need of wireless communication facilities. This paper outlines advantages and drawbacks of Bluetooth. As a first step, it examines general issues of gaming applications in ubiquitous computing environments. Afterwards, it shows how Bluetooth can cope with these issues. Furthermore, it describes two prototype applications: a Bluetooth-based multiplayer card game and a Bluetooth advertising pillar.
