Integration has long been a headache and challenge for most enterprises. While traditional EAI and B2Bi solutions have offered some relief, those solutions have offered limited ROI at great expense, complexity, and brittleness. Adopting standards-based Service-Oriented Architectures for integration, specifically Web Services-based Service-Oriented Integration (SOI) techniques provide a loosely coupled, coarse-grained approach to connecting systems that promises to significantly improve the economics of integration and continued realization of IT value.
