As one of the largest county retirement associations in the United States, Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association (LACERA), headquartered in Pasadena, Calif., is responsible for administering and managing retirement funds for the County of Los Angeles. Although LACERA staff worked hard to satisfy customer needs, its efforts to improve quality and accelerate business processes were hindered by a complicated mainframe system that required multiple code-driven user interfaces rather than text-driven. LACERA launched a search for a workflow system with document imaging capabilities, but the Association wanted more than just cutting edge technology. LACERA's management demanded a true Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution that would improve customer service, efficiency, and productivity by empowering the Association to meet its business goals through streamlining and automating processes. They finally availed of FileNet’s services.
