Nine years ago GM experienced problems with significant issues: rolling out new models, inefficiencies in product development, rolling out a new vehicle development process, and bringing products late to market. To resolve these issues, EDS and Robbins-Gioia formed a partnership. EDS offered business leadership by providing expertise in GM business and account management, and Robbins-Gioia offered technical leadership by providing program management expertise. The EDS/Robbins-Gioia team put in place processes, tools, and people to enable the successful management of the GM processes. This relationship focused on implementing and enabling GM’s four-phase product development process.
