This paper discusses new IT developments for EAI. It suggests the adoption of a 'pay for play' model to cover the exponential business service growth, offering a more equitable model for assessing value and usage in a business service environment and therefore enabling a more value-based charging structure. While it is likely that the primary area of benefit for this approach will be internal, offering as it does a much more realistic approach to apportioning IT costs amongst internal departments, it could also be extended to cover major business partners and perhaps even customers in the future.
