Organisations looking to integrate their legacy systems have several choices, the most common of which being Enterprise Application Integration (EAI). However, an experience at eiStream indicates never to accept the most obvious solution when more cost-effective answers may be just around the corner. eiStream research has shown that, contrary to popular wisdom, EAI has high implementation costs and it is difficult demonstrate ROI. Instead, it suggests that the answer lies in integrating information as opposed to systems, using Enterprise Report Management (ERM) to achieve increased Straight Through Processing (STP), streamline business processes, and cut costs.
