HP OpenView Storage Builder, part of HP OpenView Storage Area Manager (SAM), provides a comprehensive set of tools for IT organizations to manage capacity on different layers of the infrastructure. Monitoring is available for storage devices, hosts and their attached Logical Unit Numbers (LUNs), volumes, volume groups, file systems, and users. In addition, Storage Builder can look into Oracle databases and Microsoft Exchange servers to provide more detailed usage information. This paper offers an example methodology for identifying appropriate Storage Builder tasks in a given customer scenario and details the benefits of using Storage Builder.
