Augmented Reality is the seamless overlay of digitized images onto a real environment, producing a composite picture. Digital effects and filmed shots of real actors and scenery, now familiar to movie goers, are an example of augmented reality. As digital imagery and display technology become more powerful and less expensive, the line between the "real" and the digitally-recreated will blur, allowing reality to be creatively enhanced and manipulated in everyday applications.
