Statistics New Zealand (Te Tari Tatau) is a government department and the country’s major source of official statistics. SNZ faced a spam incident in which the organisation’s Lotus Notes email gateway was exploited as an open relay and blacklisted by ORBS and MAPS RBL. SNZ decided that an email content filtering would allow them to block threats and known viruses as well as monitor and enforce email usage policy. SNZ selected Clearswift MAILsweeper, which is well established as a best of breed product in the email content filtering market.
