The Vodafone Spain Foundation is using the latest mobile technology to help improve health care for senior citizens and the physically and mentally disabled. The Foundation is a partner in the Healthmate Consortium, a group of companies and universities, which is investigating new uses for mobile technology to support home nursing and patients with orientation problems. A hot key handset has been developed that uses GPS (Global Positioning Service) to determine the precise location of a patient. So for example, if an Alzheimer patient goes missing they can be quickly located.
