A new remuneration system for Dutch hospitals and medical specialists will be introduced in January 2003, based upon the Diagnosis and Treatment Combination (DBC). DBC profiles patients’ care from initial consultation through to final check-up, giving the medical industry greater insight into the demand for care in hospitals, and leading to better allocation of resources. Cap Gemini Ernst & Young was contracted by DBC 2003 to analyse the time taken for doctors in The Netherlands to diagnose and treat patients. Sigmax developed an application for Palm m505 handhelds, tailored for all medical specialties.
