Herbert Smith, as have many law firms, has become heavily dependent on data management in recent years, having seen accelerated growth in the amount of data it produces, manages and stores. Continued growth and industry regulation required a review of the company’s existing data management system. Herbert Smith was utilizing 15 general-purpose servers, which required frequent software and hardware upgrades and maintenance. Reliable, consolidated storage provision was therefore a key challenge. In conjunction with this, the company wanted to review its Microsoft Exchange platform to improve recovery time. To solve the company’s problems, Lawrence turned to Network Appliance.
