The methods available to McDonald’s restaurants regarding purchase orders - phone calls and EDI - until April 2000 demanded improvement. Telephone calls, for instance, took around 10 minutes to be completed, and ended up causing misunderstanding. So, Martin-Brower’s big challenge was to create a B2B portal that brought a number of features that could support the entire procurement process - from the order to the setting of the best time for the food delivery, either downtown Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro, in a shopping mall or along highways. In order to address Martin-Brower’s challenge of creating a B2B portal, the company’s IT staff relied on the consulting services of Lintec Integrated Solutions, a systems integrator, which has used Novell’s NetWare, NDS eDirectory and BorderManager solutions.
