Primary Industry & Resources South Australia wanted to leverage the Internet to provide new and improved services and increase potential export earnings for their customers. At the same time, the agency wanted to assist staff in using online technology to streamline and improve internal operations. To offer this new level of information and services via the Internet, PIRSA faced an important challenge - providing internal and external users with secure, remote access to data inside PIRSA’s firewall. Thanks to a Novell extranet management solution, staff can now control user access on the Primary Industry & Resources South Australia Web site, meaning that PIRSA has no qualms about allowing public access to data located inside the firewall.
