As more and more of its customers embrace its Internet services Barclaycard decided to expand its existing Web offering to enable customers to fully self-service their credit card accounts online, checking bills, initiating payments and applying for additional credit. However, the company realized its existing Web platform would not be able to support the three million customers expected to register for such a service. Barclaycard decided to implement the proven WebSphere platform and deploy IBM MQSeries middleware to integrate the Web front end with its legacy IBM-based batch processing systems.
