The University of Durham wanted to improve understanding of how the universe works through advanced cosmological simulations, implement state-of-the-art supercomputer system well matched to the needs of cosmological research and retain cement position of leadership in the world’s cosmology community. Sun won because they understood Durham’s need so well and were therefore able to devise a solution that in turn provided the performance, support, and other criteria that comprised that value.
