Intel, Red Hat, and HP, with the support of Reuters, commissioned Giga Information Group to examine the migration of Reuters’ legacy market data platform (TIB and Triarch) to Reuters’ new market data platform, RMDS. Part of this examination was an analysis of such a migration away from a Unix-based platform running TIB and Triarch towards a Linux-based platform with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, HP ProLiant hardware, and Intel Xeon based systems running RMDS. Five global financial services customers were interviewed for the project, each in the initial beta process of evaluating the migration to RMDS from a Unix to Linux environment. This document provides initial findings based upon the data obtained in March of 2003. All information has been validated by each financial institution internally but is subject to change as several beta customers move into production stage.
