This paper describes the implementation of NetScreen's DI firewall, explains how DI protects against application attacks, demonstrates how customers can control and manage the application-level protection, and discusses various deployment strategies to illustrate how to most effectively use DI firewall. NetScreen's Deep Inspection firewall provides both network and application-level protection to strengthen the overall security stance of the network. The DI firewall integrates the strengths of both Stateful inspection and intrusion prevention technologies to efficiently process network traffic and insulate network resources from many of the sophisticated attacks targeting Internet protocols.
