Started in 1979 as a small family business, Mid-Continent Instruments operate one of the world’s largest instrument overhaul and exchange programs. As a manufacturer of electric gyros, engine gauges, and clocks, they supply instruments to virtually every propeller-driven aircraft manufacturer in the United States. By implementing Microsoft Business Solutions-Great Plains, Mid-Continent Instruments has totally integrated serial numbers, customer histories, and item/customer inquiries. Inventory accuracy increased by 15 percent for raw materials. Stock shortages for manufacturing orders were reduced 73 percent, work in progress levels fell by 25 percent. Mid-Continent was able to reduce a combined total of 5 FTEs of staff. On-time shipping orders have increased by 15 percent.
