When Poulsen Lighting, the U.S. subsidiary of Danish company Louis Poulsen & Co. A/S, experienced substantial growth, top managers realized that the company needed a more flexible enterprise resource planning (ERP) system that would deliver more efficient reporting. Since implementing Microsoft Business Solutions-Axapta, Poulsen Lighting, Inc. has streamlined its order flow process and increased efficiency. With real-time order tracking and an e-commerce enabled platform, they can provide customers with more information faster. What’s more, the system supports the ability for customers to order online. While the Danish parent uses SAP, Microsoft Axapta is a more cost-effective information system for business processes involved in decentralized manufacturing and distribution, such as U.S.-based Poulsen Lighting. After the implementation, Poulsen’s internal lead-time for orders shrank by 67 percent.
