FAST needed to simplify its management of the Internet in the workplace, both to save time spent searching the Web and to protect the organization and its employees from the negative reputation and legal risk of uncontrolled access to inappropriate Web content. The organization wanted to monitor and simplify its employees? Internet usage, for example to avoid the distress of staff viewing inappropriate websites and to defend the company’s network against Internet-borne viruses being downloaded from the Web. FAST also recognized that with increasing numbers of employees needing online access the risks from inappropriate content would grow. The IT department looked carefully at the options available to improve the efficiency of Internet usage in the workplace before selecting SurfControl.
