In preparation for Denmark's ascension to the European Union Presidency, the Danish Parliament commissioned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to create a national portal to give foreign journalists, business people, tourists, and potential residents up-to-date, official information about the country. Denmark's National IT and Telecom Agency chose Oracle9i Database and the portal functionality of Oracle9i Application Server (Oracle9iAS) on which to build Denmark's official window to the world.
