Established in 1920, Empresas CMPC has been a pioneer in pulp and paper manufacturing in Chile. In 1998, with the help of the consultant, Miebach Logistics, the company embarked on a project to automate storage management. This was part of a more extensive effort studying the various aspects of logistical operations, such as the definition of shipping and storage points, drawing up client delivery routes, the characterization of the transport fleet, etc. In the end, the Hellas warehouse automation software from Heyde AG Beratung Software Integration, Germany was selected. Miebach is part of the Heyde group, but for contract reasons the deal was done through Heyde's Brazilian branch. Once the decision was made about the software, the same procedure was followed with the radio frequency system, the various suppliers were evaluated and Psion Teklogix was chosen.
