The Baggage Handling System (BHS) at Leonardo da Vinci airport has proven to be reliable and efficient. Manual intervention by baggage attendants and flight crew was necessary for maximum efficiency. The challenge for ADR was to ensure these manual processes were fast and reliable. It needed a system of manually checking baggage against a central database. This was required in real-time throughout the airport from check-in desks all the way to the aircraft. The manual process needed to complement the (BHS), and be compatible with it. ADR chose Psion Teklogix wireless solution to satisfy its needs.
