Founded in 1910, King Edward VII is the only secondary school in Melton Mowbray, a market town in central England. About 2,000 students are enrolled in the school, which holds Technology College status. The school is using Cisco Aironet 340 Series Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA) client adapters for every laptop and has positioned 80 Cisco Aironet 340 Series access points throughout the school. By using the technology, the students have developed skills that are not subject-specific and that are not so readily acquired by traditional educational methods. These capabilities-improved communication skills, greater confidence, and a better understanding of presentation and research skills, such as knowing what is useful information and what is not-will serve them well in almost any career.
