The purpose of this document is to objectively discuss and evaluate the documents recently published by the Mobey Forum addressing the preferred payment architecture for mobile commerce based transactions. The published document outlines the requirements for manufacturers and standardization bodies. The Mobey Forum itself was founded by a number of member banks and handset manufacturers (including ABN AMRO Bank, Banco Santander Central Hispano, BNP Paribas, Barclays Bank, Deutsche Bank, SEB, UBS, Visa, Ericsson and Nokia). In June 2001, the preferred payment architecture that utilizes a Dual SIM was adopted by the Forum as a proposal for the consideration of standardization bodies such as the WAP Forum and the MeT Initiative.
