Sybase was one of the first vendors to support Java-based object-relational technology in its database server. With Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) 12.0, Sybase enabled Java methods to be used in SQL stored procedures and as functions, and Java classes be used as abstract data types in SQL tables, thereby providing comprehensive object capabilities in a relational environment. Now, to further simplify and accelerate the development of enterprise applications, to bring technology to the marketplace faster, and to provide greater flexibility in application deployment, Sybase ASE 12.5 extends and enhances the capabilities for Java-based facilities in the database.
