As the gaming industry in Las Vegas grew, the city grew: more residents, businesses and tourists, and more demands on Clark County's McCarran International Airport. Passenger traffic increased 75 percent during the 90s, and McCarran became the 16th busiest airport in the world. New construction would be necessary, but information technology (IT) would be key to making McCarran's DOA plan a reality. The emphasis was on improving information access and sharing. To accommodate current and emerging technologies, McCarran needed an entirely new technology base. Another challenge? McCarran chose EDS and our Open Airport Information Systems (OAISYS) solution. EDS's expert team had a track record of success in airports the world over and worked in close collaboration with McCarran's DOA and other vendors.
