This white paper gives information on BlackBerry Enterprise Server. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server performs the functions like processessing all messages into the BlackBerry user's individual BlackBerry State Database, monitoring the BlackBerry user's inbox for new mail, applying user-definable filters to new messages to determine if and how the message will be relayed to the user's BlackBerry handheld, compressing and encrypting these new messages and delivers them to the BlackBerry handheld via the Internet and wireless network, receiving messages composed on the BlackBerry handheld via the Internet, then decompresses and decrypts the messages and places them in the MAIL.BOX of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for the router task to deliver. In addition, a copy is placed in the Sent folder of the users mail database.
