This white paper describes how to use DB2 Data in SAS no mater where DB2 resides. It examines AIX and other UNIX implementations of SAS accessing DB2 data, when DB2 UDB is on a variety of different platforms. The SAS System is a solution for data access, management, analysis and presentation, and can work wonderfully in concert with IBM's DB2 Universal Database, whether DB2 and SAS are on the same server, or on separate systems. Data stored in DB2 can be accessed and reference from within SAS programs as if the data were in SAS data sets. A SAS product known as the SAS/ACCESS interface to DB2, enables SAS to share data with DB2 and other relational database management systems (RDBMS).
