The objective of this white paper is to document the configuration of a split-mirror backup solution for SAP with Oracle using Sun Products like StorEdge 9900 (Hitachi Data Storage system) with HDS ShadowImage software and any Sun Server. In some cases, depending upon the size and value of the information, data loss that results from an irrecoverable data fileshard disk crash can threaten the very existence of an organization. On the one hand, companies can't afford to lose their data, however on the other hand the pressures of business demand increased performance with reduced scheduled downtimes. To satisfy these demands, companies need a solution that is fast, reliable and causes no load on the production system to ensure the backup and future recovery of their most critical information assets. This white paper describes a Split-Mirror-Backup-Solution for SAP-R/3 on Oracle using HDS ShadowImage, Solstice Backup (Legato NetWorker) and SAP BRBACKUP.
