Broadband access enables consumers to fully experience the power and diversity of the Internet. As a result, customers are making positive use of exciting new services and dynamic applications that before were just not feasible through dial-up connections. But with the enormous benefits that broadband offers comes a new event that is presenting serious challenges to the service provider and its relationship with its customer - routers to create Local Area Networks within the home - 'home networks'. For the DSL service provider, at a minimum, customer-deployed home networks equate to added costs for delivering service without the benefit of new revenue. In this white paper, escalating costs to deliver service and other issues associated with a home network and its impact on broadband service providers are explored.
