Bovespa, the Stock Exchange of Sao Paulo, the largest stock trading center in Latin America, and a leader in computer-assisted trading, was having trouble managing its many IT projects. They contracted with partner CSIT to build a Microsoft .NET-connected application called "Metadata Central" (MDC) to automatically extract metadata from databases, code, models from their various projects, store the metadata in a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 repository, and allow the IT department to browse the repository over the company intranet. CSIT wrote a 3-tier application of roughly 30,000 lines of C# code. The application uses Microsoft ASP.NET to support a Web user interface, has 2 MMC snap-ins for administration, a Microsoft Windows service, two Web services. CSIT is now offering MDC for sale.
