Despite the security industry’s high and evolving standards, the fact remains that industries are lacking standards in certain critical areas. This makes it difficult to measure its “correct” and “complete” performance. In this paper, the history of antivirus and security related standards are examined in order to assist in the optimal use of existing standards. In addition, suggestions for improving current standards situation are given.
