This paper presents a series of interviews that were conducted with people who have pioneered implementations of active data warehousing. The paper summarizes these interviews and then synthesizes the common themes and lessons learned. Individuals associated with 3M Corporation, Delta Technology, Ford Motor, Midwest Card Services, PING Inc., Strategy.com and Union Pacific were interviewed. The paper shows how these organizations are realizing such benefits as improving asset management, reducing customer support costs, auditing billing practices, terminating unprofitable products, being on top of litigation cases, and reducing staff requirements.
