Predictive Systems’ view of asset management is grounded in the belief that successful IT initiatives must satisfy three distinct needs: people, process, and technology. Failure to address any one of these needs affects the success of the whole initiative. One of the primary reasons that asset management projects fail is that they are viewed and executed as one-time projects, independent of the day-to-day operations of the enterprise. Asset management cannot be viewed in a vacuum; it is not a project that has a specified beginning and ending. Asset management is a process that must be tightly integrated into the day-to-day operations of a business. It is an ongoing business discipline which, when successful, constantly provides information that empowers management to make both tactical and strategic decisions about the enterprise.
