Translating the benefits of wireless LANs (WLANs) into quantified ROI can prove difficult. Some benefits, such as lower networking costs, are self-evident, but other "soft" benefits, such as increased productivity, higher employee satisfaction, and faster decision making, are not as easily measured in dollars and cents.

Intel IT recently teamed with Intel Finance to quantify the soft benefits of WLANs and develop an ROI model that other IT departments can use to build their own business cases for successfully deploying WLANs.
