The booming mobile phone market is demanding more and more new features and advanced services to be made available on handsets - with a consequent increase in component count. At the same time, designers have to reduce board space and make their product fully compliant with the EMI / RFI standards. In a mobile phone the keyboard matrix can behave as an antenna and receive unwanted RF frequencies emitted by the phone itself. These unwanted signals must be eliminated by a low pass filter. To meet these requirements, STMicroelectronics has created the EMIF10, a highly integrated 10-line low-pass filter in a revolutionary small flip-chip package - the equivalent of 70 discrete components on less than 7 mm2!
