This white paper compares the value and performance offered by hardware and software-based DVD playback products. Software DVD-Video playback was evaluated using the software DVD player which was included with the ATI Rage Pro Turbo VGA graphics card. Hardware DVD-Video playback (the coprocessor) was tested using the Sigma Designs Hollywood Plus PCI board.
