The topology below illustrates Windows 2000 as an IPSec client for L2TP
Load Balancing. Since Windows 2000 only supports L2TP in Transport Mode, it cannot be used as an IPSec client alone. It can only be used to access another L2TP server such as a Windows 2000 server, or a L2TP Tunnel terminator.
For this example, Windows 2000 L2TP server is utilized in conjunction with the RapidStream Security Appliance (RSSA) for the encrypting – decrypting – from the Windows 2000 L2TP client workstation with Load Balancing to the Windows 2000 server.
