For the Oracle Storage Compatibility Program (OSCP), VERITAS® has developed a set of guidelines and recommendations for using Storage Checkpoint and Storage Rollback. This paper will examine how to use this solution to help recover from logical failures in an Oracle environment as well as discuss recommendations to best utilize this solution. Today's e-business economy has made it increasingly important to keep the databases that power the Internet online 24x7. With the advancement of high availability technology, it is possible today to design a robust system against various physical failures such as power outages, disk errors, and even natural disasters like fires and earthquakes. But logical failures, the kind of failure caused by human mistakes, are much more difficult to correct.
