This white paper describes how to use remote mirroring storage systems for Oracle databases. The intended audience are (1) advanced database administrators planning to buy or use remote mirroring storage systems for Oracle database, and (2) designers of remote mirroring storage systems.Overall, we think that mirroring online logs for standby database is a better disaster recovery strategy in almost all situations. As a result, while describing both approaches, this document focuses on how to mirror online logs for Oracle Standby database. The requirements on the underlying storage system are the same for both approaches.
