Visionaries were predicting that the Internet and advancing web technology would transform society, and analysts were beginning to urge their clients to develop web strategies. In 1997, there was a corporate rush to get on the Internet, if only with an informational site. By 1998, most large companies were on the Net and many were moving aggressively to offer services through their sites. Companies like Forbes Magazine and Martha Stewart Living were moving beyond the single server model to multi server arrays to deliver goods and services on the Internet.
