Increasing the number of available slots and performance of a system is desired goal in many communications market segments. Between exercising the limits of physical backplane layouts and coaxing backplane transceivers to their electrical limits, the achievable speeds to date have been less than stellar. GTLP interface technology allows for an incident-wave switched backplane that provides superior performance and slots over previous, less capable technologies. This paper will demonstrate how to implement GTLP in heavily-loaded backplanes with optimized signal integrity.
