The concept of thin-client computing has taken a significant position in today’s business computing networks. Thin-client computing arises from user needs that are not adequately addressed, in all cases, by the personal computer, fixed function displays, or other desktop computing alternatives. Thin-client computing is most often touted as the "lowest total cost of computing" solution, however there are other inherent advantages in using this technology, and this paper will elaborate on these benefits and other issues associated with thin-client computing. With the endorsement and legitimization of the market by big name players, including Microsoft, IBM, Sun, and Citrix, thin-client technology will continue to grow and play a major role in corporate desktop computing.
