Considering the need to support the growing demand for Internet access combined with telecommuting and LAN interconnectivity, we see that DSL offers the carrier community, Internet service provider, and competitive access provider, an amazingly serendipitous opportunity. Faced with the challenge of deploying solutions that meet the growing needs of an expanding market, service providers are quickly coming to the conclusion that DSL presents them with a remarkably valuable set of options. Internet access, telecommuting, and LAN access can be supported as never before. DSL, being compatible with ISDN and traditional standards such as T1, can be used to deploy those capabilities as well.
